I’m Rouzbeh Parsi, a historian and analyst of Iran and the wider Middle East, with more than two decades of academic and policy work on Iranian politics, the country’s relations with Europe, and the nuclear question.
I hold a Ph.D. in history from Lund University, where I am affiliated with Human Rights Studies at the Department of History. From 2018 to 2025 I led the Middle East and North Africa Programme at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), and from 2009 to 2013 I was a senior research fellow at the EU Institute for Security Studies in Paris. I have been a visiting scholar at Princeton University and Columbia University.
My work spans modern Iranian history, EU–Iran relations, Gulf and regional security, and the politics of the nuclear file. It appears in scholarly and policy publications and across the international and Swedish press. You can browse my books & papers and shorter analysis, or read more about my research.
